A poem submitted by our prison ministry students: That’s What Friends are For You and me Dearest Friend: You always seem to be nearby to show you much you care To be a special kind of friend and let me know you’re there. It’s nice the way, you make me feel so very warm inside, And I like the way you listen to the things that I confide… And as you mean a lot to me, because of what you are, Exactly what I hoped you’d be. The dearest friend by far. |
A Creed for Those Who Have Suffered
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve. I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey…
I asked for health, that I might do great things. I was given infirmity, that I might do better things… I asked for riches, that I might be happy. I was given poverty, that I might be wise…
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men. I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God…
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life. I was given life, that I might enjoy all things… I got nothing I asked for — but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered. I am, among men, most richly blessed! Roy Campanella Chicken Soup for the Soul

A Pounding
Meet Richard and Margaret Wilson. The came from us from the Bay area in California. The Women’s Ministry gave them a "Surprise Pounding" on July 11. A pounding is an old fashioned welcome! We filled a basket with a pound of sugar, flour, beans potatoes etc, you get the picture. Well, Margaret’s heart was a pounding because we SURPRISED her. Richard’s head was pounding because he didn’t tell Margaret and kept it a surprise. g h |
